Meet Becca

Rebecca Leong, M.S., CCC-SLP, is the founder of Roaring Whisper and a Speech-Language Pathologist with over 15 years experience, working with children and young adults, diagnosing and treating their speech, language, and social communication disorders. She specializes in assessing and treating selective mutism, and focuses on helping children manage and overcome the anxiety that is associated with it, so they can communicate confidently and effectively.

Becca has completed the Selective Mutism Training Institute (SMTI) for Professionals and has direct experience using empirically-supported behavioral and cognitive treatment and PCIT-SM (Parent-Child Interaction Therapy for Selective Mutism) techniques for selective mutism.

She is also a mom of a daughter with selective mutism, and understands the challenges of raising a child that struggles with its often debilitating anxiety. Whether it’s being unable to do something that might seem ordinary, like playing outside with friends, taking a picture, going to family functions, or answering questions, she has first hand experience of what a parent goes through and how to connect with that child.

She is currently working in the New York Metropolitan area.
